Do you feel alone in your struggles? Does it feel like no one understands you or your experience? It’s common to feel like you’re the only person experiencing this. That’s why meeting in a group can help you feel supported and validated by those who understand.

Meet with others who are going through their own infertility struggles, in a safe and welcoming space, where you can talk about the pains and challenges of experiencing infertility, pregnancy loss, or other reproductive issues.

Infertility therapy groups at Infertility Counseling Center consists of eight sessions. Each session will last 50 minutes. They will be scheduled on either Monday or Tuesday evenings. Each week we will have a specific topic that we will focus on, and each group member will have an opportunity to share their feelings about this topic.

We offer infertility therapy groups with different themes, to help you navigate specific parts of an infertility journey.

Infertility Therapy Groups

Therapy groups are held in-person in our Kansas City, MO office or remotely throughout KS, MO, ID, and UT.

General Infertility Group

This group is for those just starting out their infertility journey and wanting to talk with others about this experience. This group is psychotherapeutic, which means we’ll process the grief and pain of infertility, in a supportive and validating space.

LGBTQ Family Building Group

This group is for LGBTQ individuals and couples that are looking to build their family. This group will be more educational, and will provide information around ways to build your family, and the steps involved in using the family-building methods available.

Pregnancy Loss Group

This group will include those who have experienced one or more pregnancy losses as part of their family-building journey. We’ll focus on the grief that comes from losing a pregnancy, as well as the other emotions that are common, such as self-doubt, anger, jealousy, disappointment. This group is therapeutic, so we will work on processing the many emotions that arise after a pregnancy loss.

Failed Fertility Treatments Group

This group is for those who have experienced failed IVF cycles. This can be very painful to experience, and can lead to a loss of hope and lots of doubt about your future. Meeting with others who have also been through this can help to validate the grief that comes from failed treatments. This group is psychotherapeutic, so we will actively work on processing the grief.

Child-Free, Not by Choice Group

This group is for those who have moved on from their family-building journey, and have not had children. Finding peace after deciding to move on from an infertility journey is complicated. This group is psychotherapeutic, so we will actively work on processing the pain of your journey, while finding hope for the future. It can feel less isolating to meet with other people who are also moving forward in life without children.

Secondary Infertility Group

This group is for individuals who have had a child, and are struggling with infertility while trying to conceive their second child. Those experiencing secondary infertility often feel overlooked and alone, and can sometimes feel they don’t have permission to feel sad because they already have a child. This is a therapeutic group, and we will process the emotions surrounding the specific challenges faced during secondary infertility.

Couple’s Infertility Group

This group is for couples experiencing infertility. This is also a general infertility group, where we will discuss how it is affecting a couple, and how to process the challenges as a couple. This is a psychotherapeutic as well as educational group, where we will both work through the difficult emotions, and learn specific skills to improve the relationship.
